ROONEY HOPING TO BE FIT
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said that he hopes to be fit for the Euro 2012 group match against Ukraine. It will be the final group match of the campaign for England, but Wayne Rooney will be unavailable for the first matches because he is suspended after having received a silly red card in the match against Montenegro recently.
There was talk about leaving Wayne Rooney at home due to the fact that he will not be able to play in two crucial matches against France and Sweden. Rooney's presence in the final game of the group matches for England will certainly not be necessary if they failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.
However, Wayne Rooney has now gave manager Roy Hodgson another option for the final match against Ukraine by saying that he will be fully fit and ready for this match.
The Manchester United striker has said that he understands that not playing in the matches and watching from the stands is going to be extremely tough, but he has to accept that he made a mistake in making the silly challenge in the match against Montenegro.
Liverpool striker andy carroll has been given the famous No 9 shirt by manager Roy Hodgson, while Rooney will be taking the usual No 10 jersey.
"I feel good and I've got a few weeks before I can play. I will be ready if needed. It's important I do my training right. I've had a long time to think about missing these games and obviously it's disappointing. But it's something I've dealt with really. It's a tough group with some good teams. We have to make sure we're focused on each game and take it from there,' said the manchester united striker Wayne Rooney, who has been in sensational form for his club this season.
