MOYES BACKS ROONEY

Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that he expects Wayne Rooney to become one of the greatest players for Manchester United. The 27-year-old decided to stay at Old Trafford after revealing his desire to leave the club at the end of last season.

He had grown frustrated about life on the bench, while even if selected, he was played constantly out of position. Rooney has been at Old Trafford since 2004 after his £ 30 million transfer from Everton. Back then, he became the world's most expensive teenager. He has not disappointed, though, by managing to score a lot of goals.

JOSE MOURINHO IN NUMBERS

Jose Mourinho is about to embark on his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge and the Portuguese boss is already looking to challenge the Manchester clubs for the domestic title, as well as former club Real Madrid in Europe.

CHELSEA WANT ROONEY

Chelsea manager José Mourinho has said that he is only interested in bringing Wayne Rooney to the club and not any other player before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea recently made an official offer for the 27-year-old England international amidst a lot of speculation that the club would also offer Juan Mata and £ 10 million in cash. However, Mourinho has rejected the speculations by saying that Chelsea have made only a cash offer and it does not involve any player swapping at any stage in the negotiations.

ROY BACKS ROONEY

England manager Roy Hodgson has praised Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney by saying that he expects to put behind his troubles with his club to shine in the friendly match against the Republic of Ireland. Hodgson is expected to name Rooney alongside Daniel Sturridge in the match.

The striker recently handed a transfer request to Manchester United after growing frustrated with life on the sidelines. The arrival of £ 24 million signing Robin van Persie has taken the limelight away from Rooney, who has been linked with a move to PSG and Chelsea in the last few weeks.

NELSEN CHASING PARK

QPR recently lost the services of the defender Ryan Nelsen after he took over the managerial job at the MLS club Toronto FC.

Now, he is looking to attract some of his former teammates to the MLS club in the hope of being successful in his first managerial job. The former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung arrived at Loftus Road with a big reputation, but the South Korean has struggled to replicate his Old Trafford form.

ROONEY IS MAIN REASON

Despite largely being overshadowed by the former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, the Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas thinks that the England international Wayne Rooney is the main reason behind United's great form this season.

HODGSON CONFIDENT

The England manager Hodgson has said that he is extremely confident that the English can win the World Cup in 2014. England have been looking for their first World Cup triumph since 1966 when they managed to lift the famous trophy in the World Cup.

Since then, they have suffered several heartbreaks in major tournaments including the European championships. In fact, the World Cup 1966 remains as the only major trophy England have lifted in recent times. There have been a lot of managers who have tried to end this trophy drought but without success.

CARROLL IS THREAT

The Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said that Andy Carroll is a major threat when Manchester United take on West Ham at Old Trafford in the midweek Premier League action. The Liverpool striker is currently on loan at West Ham United for the rest of the season.
