DONOVAN STUTTERS
Landon Donovan’s international career is going through some tough times as his recent performances with USA have seen him playing below his usual standards. Playing poorly against Jamaica back in October and later being substituted during the match against Panama.
Things get worse for him as now he will be absent for his team’s matches for around a month due to an ankle injury.
“My aim is to take at least the next four weeks and probably six weeks and let the ankle heal and then get myself ready.” Donovan said.
Landon Donovan hopes he can recover and return to his form which is important now more than ever as the 2014 World Cup starts next summer and his team still needs to make proper preparations for the competition although Donovan stated that he was uncertain if he will participate in it.
“We'll see what happens,” he said. “I have to speak with Jurgen and [see] if that's something he wants me to be a part of.”
He has been suffering from that ankle injury for some time now as he played in the final 2 World Cup qualifiers for USA as they defeated Jamaica with a 2-0 result but he had to be replaced after 45 minutes and 5 days later he did not play in Galaxy’s match against Montreal.
This means that the ankle is taking a toll on him and now he wants it to be fully healed before playing anymore matches for either his club or his national team and hopefully be back in form for the World Cup as it might be his last one.
