Neymar hails ‘phenomenon’ Kylian Mbappe after Lyon rout

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has hailed Kylian Mbappe as a ‘phenomenon’ after the Frenchman bagged a fabulous quadruple during the second half of the 5-0 triumph over Lyon. The teenager has been building up his reputation over the past year and he created another headline moment over the weekend after bagging four goals against Lyon in the space of just 13 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Neymar was appreciative of the efforts for the World Cup winner and remains hopeful that he can continue to perform at the same level for the long-term, he said: “For me, he's a phenomenon. I hope it will continue like that for several years because football will thank him.”

Meanwhile, when Mbappe was asked about his own performance, he remain grounded and said that the focus can be placed on the collective effort of the team, who had created history with Paris Saint-Germain, he said: “The most important thing is the work of a whole team and the record of the day. I will insist on the collective. We wanted to win and make history in this championship. We wanted this record.”

Paris Saint-Germain had gone into “the game equal with Olympique Lyon after winning the first eight matches of the league campaign “and they managed to better to easily create history after comfortably beating Lyon at Parc des Princes. Meanwhile, the perfect start to the season already sees them eight points ahead of second-placed Lille on the standings and they already appear on course to “secure another league title “, barring a surprise from one of the teams below them.

However, the same cannot be said about their Champions League campaign whereby they have accumulated just three points from the opening two matches. In the final four games, Paris Saint-Germain have a double-header against Napoli as well as a home meeting versus Liverpool and they can expect a tough ride with neither of those teams easy to break.
