NEYMAR RETURNS FROM INJURY AGAINST MARSEILLE
Brazilian superstar Neymar made his return from injury during the French Ligue 1 clash between Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Marseille at the weekend. Neymar was restored into the PSG starting XI by manager Mauricio Pochettino for the trip to Marseille in the Le Classique on Sunday
Neymar had earlier missed the last two PSG games for different reasons. The Brazilian attacker missed the comeback win over Angers at home in the league shortly after the October international break. He missed the Angers game alongside the other South American players like the great Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Marquinhos and Leandro Paredes due to national team commitment.
An adductor injury then forced him to miss the Champions League win over RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga. Without Neymar, PSG were able to maintain their place at the top of Group A with the comeback victory over the Germans.
PSG took the lead against Leipzig through French international KylianMbappebefore goals from Andre Silva and NordiMukiele either side of the half-time turned the game on its head. Messi then scored twice in seven minutes to secure the three points for the hosts. Messi scored the equaliser for his team at the midway point of the second half off the assist from Mbappebefore he completed his brace on 74 minutes via the penalty spot after Mbappe was brought down in the box. Mbappe had the opportunity to score a second goal like Messi but he fluffed his penalty over the bar after Moroccan player AchraafHakimi was fouled in the box.
For the Marseille game, PSG held on for a goalless draw after the abovementioned Hakimi was sent off for a professional foul on Turkish winger Cengiz Under. Neymar was on from the start until the final seven minutes when he was replaced by Dutch midfielder GeorginioWijnaldum.
