Neymar keen on reunion with Philippe Coutinho at Paris Saint-Germain
Brazil international Neymar is reportedly keen on the prospect of reuniting with Philippe Coutinho at Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Coutinho only joined Barcelona from Liverpool during the winter of 2018 but his future has been put under doubt with the Spanish champions fancied to secure the services of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Coutinho may have to pursue a fresh challenge away from the Camp Nou as the potential signing of Griezmann would hamper his gametime at the club. The publication adds that the midfielder is not particularly keen on a return to the Premier League and that could setup a move to Paris Saint-Germain with Neymar keen on a reunion.
Neymar and Coutinho have shared a fruitful bond with each other since the youth setup in Brazil and it was previously predicted that they could play together at Barcelona. However, that was not meant to be with Neymar making the move to Paris Saint-Germain shortly after which Coutinho was handed with the chance to join the Catalan giants.
Coutinho has since not been able to standout with his performances unlike at Liverpool and that has generated criticism from the fans during the recently-concluded league campaign, where he was able to score just five times. At the moment, there has been no transfer activity with respect to Griezmann but the Frenchman has been touted to make the switch to Barcelona after publicly announcing the decision to leave Atletico this summer.
Should that end up being the case, Coutinho could find himself competing with both Griezmann and Dembele for a starting role and that is something he may not favour, considering he is presently entering the prime of his career. Coutinho has the chance to secure a second-straight domestic double, should Barcelona overcome Valencia during the forthcoming Copa del Rey final.
